Victor M. Macias-Gonzalez is Professor of History and Race, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at UW-La Crosse, where he also serves as Faculty Fellow for Diversity and Inclusion in the College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities. His research and publications focus on U.S. and Mexican LGBTQ+ history. He served as a historical consultant to "Wisconsin Pride" (2023) a television documentary from Wisconsin PBS on the LGBTQ+ history of Wisconsin. He also serves on the Committee on LGBTQ Status in the Profession of the American Historical Association and the executive committee of RedMuGen: The Association for the History of Women and Gender in Mexico. He is presently working on a book about gay men's homes in Mexico City ca. 1930-1970, and has a forthcoming book on Mexico's first transwoman, Martha Olmos Romero (ca. 1933-1972). He is Mexican-American and lives with his husband in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
