Patrick R. Johnson is an assistant professor of journalism and Director of Student Media at Marquette University. He focuses much of his time on improving journalism by studying news literacy, journalism practice, and journalism education. One of his primary focuses is on LGBTQ knowledge production and representation in journalism, particularly concerning identity in newsrooms, trust in news, and presence in research.

Patrick joined the Advisory Panel of the Wisconsin LGBTQ History Project in November 2023.
