Bob Adams was born in Madison, and lived in Platteville for 8 years until moving to Milwaukee in 1968. In 1972, at the age of 20, Adams was the head of the Billie B. Shears Film Society, showing mostly underground films. He was proud of his work with underground and gay films, but planned to move to San Francisco shortly after his interview with GPU News.
