The 1100 Club was a moderately popular bar, moreso with the leather community although it didn't fit the traditional model of a levi/leather bar, as did the Wreck Room (opened in 1977) and Boot Camp (opened in 1984). 1100 Club was a friendly place that held any number of shows and similar events, and this is where the leather community embraced it: it was another good venue for leather man title contests and similar events for the leather community. This was especially true after the Wreck Room closed in 1996.

Although the address faced First Street and the main entrance was on the corner, the side entrance off East Washington Street was more commonly used- especially for men dressed in leather.

In mid-1996 rumors began to circulate that the bar was closing. But co-owners Bob Minzloff and Mike Petri told 'Wisconsin Light' newspaper that they were in the process of buying the building, and the closing was only to refinish the floors as a condition lof the sale, and do some other remodeling prior to reopening. The bar went on in business for another 7 years.

More information about this business is welcomed from anyone who can contribute it.
